Academic Resources
Josie Dominguez Perez Ideas:
1. Tutoring: all student accessible tutoring places.
2. Teacher link: how to reach teachers via online and in ilearn
3. I-learn: how to use it, why we use it, etc.
4. Resume help
5. Class descriptions in depth because our schools class schedule is not helpful.
6. Scholarships: workshops and all available to students
7. Rate my professor: not from the actual website, we create one like it but better for us.
I would like to see a place where students and alumni share their experiences in regards to on location shoots. Kind of creating a place where we can write the Dos and Don’ts when dealing with professionalism during video shoots. This could be easily done with creating a forum page that allows students to share expereinces. (Veronica)
Tauri's idea-
I think we should have a community regulated "BECA Only" professor rating system. I think that we spend too much money and work too damn hard to get classes only to end up with a teacher that we don't "mesh" with. Also if professors look at the ratings then students opinions are made known before the end of the year evaluations.
Professors are more than welcome to write their own blurbs about their teaching styles. The bulletin in no way, shape, or form captures what a class is about. If a professor could give their own description of what they want students to get out of the class then it would be helpful in the class decision process.
Tauri's other idea-
I think we should have tips and tricks for the common equipment and programs that we use in the BECA department. I find that no matter what your emphasis is it always helps to have a general knowledge of everything. I know that a lack of knowledge could be killer. I have found myself in a pickle many times since I know nothing of audio.
